FAQ
HR software pricing varies widely, from $3 to $20+ per employee per month depending on the feature set and vendor. Basic HRIS tools start at the lower end. Comprehensive platforms that include strategy management, OKR tracking, and performance management cost more. Spark.work is $3/active employee/month. You get enterprise-grade strategy and people management at a fraction of the cost of traditional HCM suites.
Per-seat pricing charges for every user account, whether or not that person actively uses the platform. Per-active-employee pricing only charges for people genuinely using the product. Spark.work uses per-active-employee pricing. You pay for real usage, not dormant accounts.
A full-time HR manager costs $50,000-$80,000+ per year in salary alone. HR software like Spark.work costs a fraction of that. It doesn't replace your HR team. It extends their capacity, allowing one HR manager to support 3-5x more employees through automation and streamlined workflows.
Monthly billing offers flexibility. It's the right choice if your headcount is unpredictable or you're still evaluating the platform. Annual billing offers a discounted rate and works best for organizations committed long-term. Start monthly during your trial. Switch to annual once you've validated the ROI.
When comparing HR software pricing, ask these questions: Is pricing per active user or total headcount? Are there minimum spend requirements? What's included versus what costs extra? Are there implementation or setup fees? What are the contract and cancellation terms? Spark.work uses transparent per-active-employee pricing. All core features included. No feature tiers. No hidden fees.
Yes.
The Base Layer is required for all customers. It contains the core infrastructure Spark.work runs on, including people data, organization setup, access, and integrations.
Without it, the platform cannot function as a system.
Active employees are users who have access to login and perform their respective functions granted by permissions in Spark.work during a billing period.
Passive employees are company employees managed by active employees, with no access to login or self-service capabilities.
They remain in the system for record-keeping and visibility but do not actively use Spark.work.
Active employees are billed at $3 per month.
Passive employees are billed at $1 per month.
Because Spark.work is used by people.
Pricing scales with the number of active employees so companies pay in proportion to actual usage, not arbitrary tiers.
An active employee is a user with access to Spark.work during the billing period.
Inactive, archived, or offboarded users are not counted.

There is no minimum employee count, but there is a minimum monthly spend of $150. That covers up to 50 active employees at $3/month. For teams smaller than 50, the $150/month minimum applies regardless of your active employee count.
Standard onboarding is included in all plans at no extra cost. For enterprise deployments that require custom integrations, data migration, or dedicated implementation resources, a one-time implementation fee may apply.
